At least I never have to read Lord Of the Flies again...... hopefully.

21st May 2007- Revision and Punchline

So I have my first exam tomorrow, english literature. I've been studying 'Lord of The Flies' by William Golding, which is an alright book, because it's not amazingly long and difficult to understand. I think I've pretty much got the basis of the book understood, because there are hidden messages / meanings within the whole book- hopefully I've gotten them right.

I've also been studying poems by Gillian Clarke. Now it may just be me, but I find them boring, depressing, repetative and to be honest, I can think of a few places she can stick her poems. There's this one in particular, called 'Babysitting', which seems like an easy enough poem, just from the title, but I'm finding it hard to explain what it means, other than saying, 'Theres a bored teenager not wanting a baby to wake up, coz she's too scared to hold the damn thing.' We're not allowed to wright that kind of thing in our exams, which is a shame.

Seamus Heaney is the second poet I've been studying- for quite a while. I think he has obsessive compulsive disorder. Don't get me wrong, some of the poems he has written are good, especially as he won the Nobel Literature Prize in 1995, but SERIOUSLY, for one moment, someone tell me how many poems can a person possibley write about potatoes??

Punchline album got here on friday.

Its so good.

Everyone should buy it.

So a few days ago (most probably the 18th May) I was emptying out a shredder in the office, and I found an out of date American Express credit card. Obviously someone had been stupid enough to try and destroy it by using a shredder, which does sound funny. There were holes in if from the attempt of destruction.

I decided that I would burn it. That way, it will be completely destroyed.  So I went into my driveway, and built a mini bonfire out of leaves, then set the credit card on fire. I did take a video, because I am particuary inclined to record some acts of burning.... christmas tree..... grass..... taken apart fireworks.... ect. So here it is:

At the end I tried to put out the fire, but I was kinda thinking that I might set my all stars on fire.... so it took a while.
Also, not on the video, something caught fire after I thought I'd put it out.... oops.
